29Palms Scenery Design has announced the development of a brand-new, native version of Chania International Airport “Daskalogiannis” (LGSA) for Microsoft Flight Simulator 2024. The project, slated for a Summer 2025 release, marks the studio’s first native MSFS 2024 product.
In a social media statement, the studio revealed that they are looking to leverage MSFS 2024’s enhanced toolset to craft a fully modernized rendition of the Crete-based airport. Highlights include meticulously detailed 3D models of the terminal (complete with interiors), redesigned parking areas reflecting real-world upgrades, and enhanced surroundings featuring trimmed vegetation, added buildings, and updated ground textures.
Nestled between the Aegean Sea and Crete’s rugged mountains, LGSA is more than a tourist gateway — it’s a joint civil-military hub adjacent to NATO’s Souda Bay naval base. Its 3,348-meter runway accommodates everything from Boeing 747s to military cargo planes, offering simmers a rare mix of commercial charters, general aviation, and strategic airlift operations. The airport’s dramatic approach over coastal cliffs and its role in both civilian and defense logistics make it a standout destination for immersive flight scenarios.

Chania’s rebuild solidifies 29Palms’ focus on enriching MSFS’s Mediterranean airports, a niche they’ve cultivated since their desert-airport debut at Twentynine Palms (KTNP). The studio also teased additional Greek island airports for MSFS 2024, though specifics remain under wraps.
For now, there are only a couple of render images of the airport, which you can see here. They don’t reveal much, but if 29Palms’ work on Santorini and Mykonos is anything to go by, we’re in for a treat! Stay tuned for further previews as this project comes to life over the coming months.
