iniBuilds announces London Gatwick Airport for MSFS 2024

After bringing a modernized version of London Heathrow to Microsoft Flight Simulator earlier this month, iniBuilds is now turning its attention to the UK’s second-busiest airport: London Gatwick (EGKK). The announcement was made quietly this Friday, with a call for insider input from people working at the airport as iniBuilds looks to produce a more locally informed and accurate depiction of the airport.

London Gatwick is a major hub in its own right. It’s the main base for easyJet and serves as a significant gateway for British Airways, TUI Airways, Norse Atlantic, and several long-haul carriers. Gatwick is often cited as one of the busiest single-runway airports in the world, operating a complex schedule through a tightly coordinated flow of traffic.

Gatwick is a key piece of UK airspace that’s been somewhat underserved in Microsoft Flight Simulator. While there have been a few attempts to bring the airport to life in the sim, none have fully captured the complexity of the place. A freeware version released in 2021 earned praise for punching well above its weight.

Origami Studios also released a commercial version of Gatwick… in partnership with iniBuilds. The newly announced scenery is a fresh effort, built from the ground up with MSFS 2024 in mind. This time, iniBuilds may finally deliver the ultra-comprehensive rendition Gatwick deserves.

Only a few preview images have been shared so far, but we expect iniBuilds to follow its usual rollout strategy, teasing screenshots once the project reaches a more visually complete stage.

There’s no release date, but we’ll keep an eye on this one. Gatwick is a crucial addition to the UK airport ecosystem in MSFS, and iniBuilds has a strong track record with complex international hubs. For now, it’s exciting to see this project confirmed!
