Carenado returns to the classic King Air B200 for MSFS 2024 and 2020

Over a year since the launch of Microsoft Flight Simulator 2024, the community has seen the release of a few detailed turboprops, yet a specific hole has remained in many virtual hangars. While the default King Air 350i offers a modern glass-cockpit experience, many pilots prefer the tactile, hands-on nature of the older analog variants. Carenado is now stepping in to fill that void by announcing the development of the King Air B200 for both MSFS 2020 and MSFS 2024.

This announcement marks a return to form for Carenado, as the B200 was a staple of their lineup in the FSX and P3D days. By supporting both simulators in 2026, the developer is accepting the segment of the community that still maintains installations across both platforms, while ensuring the aircraft takes advantage of the more advanced physics and walkaround features found in the newer 2024 engine.

A focus on analog systems and visual fidelity

The preview images shared by the developer indicate a commitment to the traditional “steam gauge” layout. Unlike many modern releases that lean heavily on glass cockpits, this B200 features a panel populated with physical dials and mechanical indicators.

Being Carenado, we can expect the aircraft to feature high-definition textures and realistic lighting, which is a claim supported by the intricate wear-and-tear visible on the pilot seats and control yokes in the previews.

Carenado has not yet provided a specific release date or a price point, though they say the project is “coming soon.” Given their track record, we can expect a release that prioritizes the “look and feel” of the King Air, but we should wait to see if there’s any special surprise surrounding this release. Stay tuned!
