KDEN Denver Airport gets another model for Microsoft Flight Simulator, this time from FeelThere

How many renditions of Denver International Airport do you need? Well, FeelThere feels (pun absolutely intended) that there’s room for one more, offering competition to Flightbeam Studios and X-Codr Designs with their own interpretation of this massive North American infrastructure.

Denver International Airport, locally known as DIA, is a staple of modern aviation in the US. Serving over 77 million passengers in 2023, it’s one of the busiest airports globally and holds the distinction of being the largest airport by land area in the United States. Its central location makes it a crucial hub for domestic and international travel.

FeelThere’s rendition aims to capture the essence of this iconic airport, with particular attention given to its most recognizable feature – the tent-like roof structure. Designed by Fentress Architects, the sculpted canopy spans an area equivalent to three football fields, covering 375,000 square feet.

The developer has focused on creating a comprehensive and up-to-date model of KDEN as it stands in 2024. Key features include:

  1. Over 100 highly detailed buildings with PBR texturing
  2. Modeled terminal interior
  3. Realistic ground polygon with accurate decals, taxi lines, and surface textures
  4. True-to-life elevation and runway slope
  5. Custom animated jetways
  6. Accurate airline parking codes and modified airport services
  7. Updated AFCAD, parking spots, and taxiway names
  8. Improved taxiway and runway approach lighting
  9. Multiple custom objects and clutter placed throughout the airport

For simmers, KDEN offers unique challenges and experiences. The airport’s high elevation (5,431 feet above sea level) and frequently changing weather conditions make it an interesting destination for virtual pilots. Additionally, its complex layout with one main terminal (Jeppesen Terminal) and three concourses (A, B, and C) totaling 179 gates provides ample opportunities for varied approaches and ground operations.

It’s worth noting that this release comes after two other highly regarded renditions of KDEN for MSFS. X-Codr Designs released their impressive version just weeks ago, while Flightbeam Studios’ offering has been available for some time and has long been considered a benchmark for this scenery.

FeelThere’s KDEN is available for purchase directly from the developer at $14.39 plus taxes, with additional distribution through simMarket and Aerosoft. As always, it’s advisable to compare features and reviews across the available options to find the version that best suits their needs and preferences.
