Aerosoft has officially announced the release date for its much-anticipated Mega Airport Frankfurt scenery for Microsoft Flight Simulator, scheduled to launch on September 5. This announcement was made during the latest developer video featuring Jo Erlend and Lukas from the development team, part of an interview series that offered insights into the project.
This latest video once again showcases the team’s extensive efforts to capture the essence of Frankfurt Airport (EDDF), one of Europe’s largest aviation hubs. It highlights the importance of collaboration with Fraport, the airport’s operator, and other local contacts, to bring this airport to life for MSFS with utmost realism.
These partnerships allowed the team to access detailed on-site data and imagery, ensuring a high level of accuracy. For example, the development involved addressing specific features like the airport’s unique taxiway lighting, which required input from individuals familiar with the airport’s daily operations.
As we know, Aerosoft’s Frankfurt Airport scenery will feature intricately detailed terminal interiors, custom ground textures, and realistic night lighting effects. The team also paid close attention to the portrayal of various airport facilities, including the Lufthansa maintenance area and the general aviation ramp.
To celebrate the release, Aerosoft has planned a live release event on September 5, which will include a live stream featuring Jo Erlend and Lukas, alongside other notable figures from the flight simulation community. The event aims to engage with the community, allowing users to interact with the developers and receive direct feedback.
Additionally, Aerosoft has partnered with IVAO and VATSIM to host a virtual event on the release day. This collaboration will allow simmers to immerse themselves in the bustling virtual skies over Frankfurt, offering a closer look at the real-world operations of this major airport.
Frankfurt Airport for MSFS 2024
While the focus remains on the upcoming MSFS 2020 release, Aerosoft has also hinted at plans to adapt the scenery for the next generation, Microsoft Flight Simulator 2024. Although specific details on the adaptation process are still under wraps, the team has expressed its intention to ensure that Frankfurt Airport will be available in future iterations of the simulator.
With the release date now set, Aerosoft’s Mega Airport Frankfurt promises to be a landmark airport add-on for MSFS, offering an immersive scenery that reflects the complex and dynamic realities of Frankfurt Airport.
