Orbx releases Wolf Pitts Pro and YMND Maitland Airport for Microsoft Flight Simulator

Orbx has announced two new additions to Microsoft Flight Simulator: the aerobatic Wolf Pitts Pro and YMND Maitland Airport, each available separately or as a discounted bundle. These releases bring the excitement of Paul Bennet’s airshow performances to the simulator, with detailed environments and aircraft designed for aerobatic enthusiasts.

Wolf Pitts Pro: a high-performance aerobatic biplane

The Wolf Pitts Pro is now available in Microsoft Flight Simulator. Designed and hand-built by Steve Wolf, this aerobatic biplane is flown by Paul Bennet in his popular airshow displays. Powered by a 400-horsepower Lycoming engine and weighing just 1,200 pounds (450 kg), the Wolf Pitts Pro reaches a cruise speed of 185 knots (340 km/h) and a top speed of 224 knots (414 km/h). Its design, featuring four ailerons covering almost the entire wingspan, enables a rapid roll rate, making it well-suited for high-level aerobatic maneuvers.

Orbx’s virtual rendition of the Wolf Pitts Pro was created using reference materials from Paul Bennet, aiming for accuracy both inside and out. The cockpit includes details directly from Bennet’s setup, such as flight notes, with a dedicated instrument for monitoring engine performance. The aircraft also features an authentic Paul Bennet Airshow livery.

YMND Maitland Airport

Alongside the Wolf Pitts Pro, Orbx has also released YMND Maitland Airport, located in the picturesque Lower Hunter Valley of New South Wales, Australia. Also known as Russell Field, Maitland Airport is a small general aviation airfield featuring one paved runway and two grass strips. This airport is home to the Paul Bennet Airshows hangar, so it’s an ideal location to fly the Wolf Pitts Pro in a very appropriate environment.

YMND Maitland Airport includes a highly detailed 3D model of the airport with custom ground markings, animated hangars and improved terrain textures. It also features enhanced lighting and vegetation, offering a visually rich experience for simmers.

Bundle deal: Paul Bennet’s aerobatic world brought to MSFS

For those interested in capturing the full experience, Orbx offers a bundle that combines both the Wolf Pitts Pro and YMND Maitland Airport. The bundle provides a discount on both products, allowing simmers to dive into the world of aerobatics and practice at the airfield where Bennet himself trains.

Pricing and availability

These products are available through Orbx’s official store. A note from the developers states that the Wolf Pitts Pro will be made compatible with the upcoming Microsoft Flight Simulator 2024, though updates may be required following the new version’s release.
