BravoAirspace has dropped a surprise today with its unveiling of the Boeing 787-9 Dreamliner, a new addition to the Microsoft Flight Simulator 2020 fleet. It’s a follow-up to the developer’s 787-8 release earlier this year and combines a selection of features and thoughtful enhancements to an experience that should be largely similar to the default 787-10, but in a different variant of the Dreamliner.
What’s New with the 787-9?
The Boeing 787-9 builds on the foundation of the 787-10 included in the Premium Deluxe version of MSFS 2020, with some added features on top.

Advanced Avionics and the Custom BAEFB
BravoAirspace is basically leveraging the work of Working Title and integrated enhanced avionics into their 787-9, including SimBrief support. Adding to the package is the “BAEFB” (BravoAirspace Electronic Flight Bag), a tool offering features like Navigraph chart access, flight plan management, and ground handling controls. Updates are already planned to expand its capabilities.
Engine Options and Realistic Sounds
The 787-9 includes both General Electric and Rolls Royce engine variants, complete with accurately modeled fan blades. Complementing these visuals are custom engine and interior sounds.
Detailed Cockpit Enhancements
BravoAirspace’s attention also extends to the cockpit, which features subtle weathering effects, dust particles, and even personal touches like snacks and crew luggage. “Priority Quick Views” have been added to provide rapid access to critical controls and displays.
Realistic Flight Dynamics and Exterior Features
The aircraft’s flight dynamics have also been adjusted to reflect the specific performance characteristics of the 787-9. The exterior model is walkaround-ready, showcasing avionic compartments, readable labels, and other intricate details. Notable mechanical features include moving fan blades in the wind, drooped control surfaces when parked, and an operational APU inlet door.

The 787-9 comes with 30 liveries representing operators from around the globe, and BravoAirspace promises that additional liveries are set to arrive in January 2025.
Important Considerations
It’s very important to note that this aircraft requires the Premium Deluxe version of Microsoft Flight Simulator, as it leverages the default 787-10 cockpit and systems.
Pricing and Availability
The BravoAirspace Boeing 787-9 Dreamliner is available now exclusively through the MSFS Marketplace, priced at $18.99 for both PC and Xbox. A free upgrade is planned for MSFS 2024 once the Marketplace goes live in the new sim.
