Verticalsim releases KRSW Southwest Florida International Airport for MSFS

Verticalsim is back in Florida with another U.S. regional airport—this time landing at Southwest Florida International Airport (KRSW), located just outside Fort Myers. Now available for Microsoft Flight Simulator, this new release continues Verticalsim’s trend of covering mid-to-large airports that don’t always get the spotlight but play a key role in the U.S. aviation network.

KRSW might not be a household name internationally, but simmers looking for a mix of domestic airline traffic, private jets, and general aviation will find plenty to enjoy here. The real-world airport sees service from nearly every major U.S. airline, and international widebody operations make an occasional appearance, especially from cities like Frankfurt.

KRSW is known for its scenic coastal approaches, with procedure plates that bring you in close to the shoreline. The airport operates with a single runway, which makes it surprisingly busy. In fact, it’s the second busiest single-runway airport in the U.S., behind San Diego International (KSAN), according to FAA stats.

Verticalsim’s rendition of RSW features a 2025 airport layout and focuses on a smart balance between visual detail and performance. The terminal comes with a simplified interior, which is something many users will likely appreciate in order to keep frame rates in check.

Other notable features:

  • Fully modeled hangars and FBOs, reflecting real-world layouts
  • High-resolution PBR texturing for airport buildings
  • Custom aerial imagery and surrounding area modeling, including the nearby Skypark
  • All spawn types supported, including helipads, GA, bizjets, and airliners
  • Custom signage and lighting elements, from taxiway markings to centerline lights
  • LOD optimization throughout the scenery
  • An official GSX profile by US Profiles is listed as “coming soon”

Southwest Florida International Airport is available now through Contrail, priced at $18.36 USD. This adds another solid regional hub to the MSFS ecosystem—ideal for domestic legs with your PMDG 737, A320neo, or even the A350, if you’re feeling ambitious.
