TFX brings dramatic fire and damage effects to Microsoft Flight Simulator

TriTriSim has announced the open beta release of TFX, a freeware add-on for Microsoft Flight Simulator 2020 and 2024 that brings dramatic visual effects such as engine fires, sparks, smoke trails, and crash animations to supported aircraft.

TFX aims to fill a gap in MSFS by adding emergency and damage visuals that are absent from the base simulator. The developer, TriTriTheCuber, created the mod after noticing the lack of immersive effects in scenarios like engine failures and hard landings. What started as a personal project has grown into a community-driven effort with ongoing updates and expanding aircraft support.

The open beta, which launched on May, currently supports a wide range of popular airliners and some general aviation aircraft. Among the supported models are the PMDG 777 series (200ER, 300ER, and Freighter), Fenix A320 family, FlyByWire A320neo and A380, iFly 737 MAX 8, and even the IniBuilds A350.

TFX provides highly visible effects that enhance realism during emergency scenarios, including:

  • Engine fires with dynamic flames and smoke
  • Sparks and debris during runway excursions
  • Heat distortion effects from jet exhausts

The add-on is compatible with both MSFS 2020 and 2024 and is being distributed completely free of charge.

To participate in the open beta, users can join the TriTriSim Discord server for access to the latest build, installation instructions, and community support. There’s also an official website with more details and relevant download links.

TFX is still under active development, with plans to extend support to more aircraft and introduce additional effects based on community feedback.
