The Franco-German workhorse of military and humanitarian missions has just entered a new chapter in Microsoft Flight Simulator. AzurPoly has released the C-160 Transall as a fully native MSFS 2024 aircraft, bringing one of Europe’s most recognizable transports into the sim with new systems, visuals, and functionality.
The release is rolling out now across all major stores. Marketplace users (PC and Xbox) should also see it soon, although timing there depends on Microsoft’s publishing pipeline. Pricing comes in at $34.99 USD, with a $9.99 upgrade path for simmers who previously bought the MSFS 2020 version.
A second life for the Transall
After clocking over a million combined flight hours and formally retiring from French military service in 2022, the Transall is being honored in the simulator with the most complete rendition yet. Developed in close collaboration with real pilots and C-160 specialists, AzurPoly says this build pushes their standards further than any of their earlier releases.
The developer highlights that this is not a port from the 2020 version but a true 2024-native aircraft, redesigned with new architecture, effects, and sounds.
Key features:
- 3D-scanned, highly detailed exterior and cockpit
- Fully modeled cargo bay with animated doors, ramp, and windows
- 16 liveries spanning military and civil operators, with and without refueling probe
- Echo19-enhanced sound package plus custom AI sounds for multiplayer
- Interactive walk-around system
- Cargo operations: vehicle drops and paratroopers with realistic trajectories
- Effects package including decoy flares, prop vortices, prop dust, and fuel dumping
- Bespoke avionics: EADI/EHSI screens, custom FMS with flight plan management, SimBrief integration
- Compatible GPS units (GNS 430, GTN 650 from TDS and PMS50)
- Functional weather radar and dual HUDs
- Deep systems modeling: electrical, hydraulic, pneumatic, and full fuel transfer/dumping logic
- Custom EFB for payload, settings, and checklists
- Over 100-page manual available from AzurPoly’s website
One element that makes this package stand out is the inclusion of cargo gameplay with droppable objects and troops, something rarely seen in MSFS add-ons. Combined with multiplayer-aware sound design and interactive walk-around actions, it pushes the Transall beyond just being another transport aircraft.
The project also benefitted from support by the Musée Européen de l’Aviation de Chasse in Montélimar, which gave the team access to a retired French C-160R for reference.
The C-160 Transall may no longer be flying operationally, but thanks to AzurPoly, it’s set for a long virtual career in MSFS 2024 — carrying heavy loads, dropping troops, and giving simmers a taste of its unique Franco-German legacy.
