FSRealistic has been around for a while now, shaking our cockpits and rattling our seats with camera shakes, wind noise, and those little touches that make MSFS feel a bit more alive. But now, rkApps has just pulled the curtain on the next generation of this hugely popular add-on: FSRealistic+, a complete rebuild of the tool that not only ups the ante on effects and sound but also officially integrates with Parallel 42’s ChasePlane!
The teaser trailer posted today by rkApps shows off more than 30 effects and 120 sounds, all redesigned to work seamlessly with ChasePlane’s camera engine. Instead of being an extra “layer” on top of MSFS, FSRealistic+ will now tie sound, motion, and vibration into one pipeline.
So when your engine spools up, you don’t just hear the vibration, you feel it in the cockpit camera. Pull some Gs and your head shifts ahead of your inputs, the way a real pilot anticipates the stick. Slam into a rough landing and you get the jolt, the rattle, and even the audio snap of gear stress all at once.
New features also include:
- Passenger reactions to turbulence
- Natural pilot head anticipation
- User-added custom sounds
- A streamlined in-game panel for managing effects
- Profile sharing and easy customization
The developers stress it’s not any single effect that makes the difference, but how they all play together through ChasePlane’s system.
Here’s where things get even more interesting. At the moment, ChasePlane is officially available only for MSFS 2020, though a 2024 version is in development. What does that mean for FSRealistic+? Simply put: since Plus depends entirely on ChasePlane’s camera system, its release is tightly tied to when ChasePlane rolls out for MSFS 2024. So, it’s very possible that we’ll see ChasePlane’s 2024 version and FSRealistic+ launch close together, if not in tandem.
Pro vs Plus
FSRealistic Pro isn’t going away. It remains the standalone option for users who don’t want to buy ChasePlane or prefer a simpler setup. Plus, on the other hand, is the advanced package, fully dependent on ChasePlane for its camera integration.
Pricing hasn’t been announced yet, but rkApps confirmed that Pro users will get a discounted upgrade to Plus.
As for when it might be released, FSRealistic+ is reportedly in an “advanced stage of development,” but a release date has not been announced yet.
