Back in August 2025, in what was supposed to be the “third and final development update” for Orbx’s Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport (KATL), the developers were targeting a Christmas 2025 release. That window came and went, and this weekend Orbx has shared a fourth update, confirming a revised target of mid-April 2026.
The delay is attributed to a combination of factors: the sheer scale of the airport, some mesh issues that have since been resolved, and the process of converting everything to native MSFS 2024 assets. The remaining work is relatively short, covering final placement of GSE, vehicles, trees, and people, custom 3D taxiway signs, custom approach and taxiway lighting, and completing all animations. It’s finishing work rather than core development, which at least suggests the mid-April window is realistic.
The new screenshots shared alongside the update give a good look at the finished product, and they’re impressive. The ramp areas around the Delta and Southwest gates are densely detailed with ground service equipment, cargo containers, fuel trucks, and ground vehicles.
The terminal buildings also show accurate facade modelling across multiple concourses, with the characteristic dark-panelled architecture of Atlanta’s newer terminal sections clearly visible. Interior terminal shots, including one showing a Southwest gate from inside with preboarding signage, suggest the walkable terminal element is well advanced.
Some of the features have been known since the announcement: a complete 2025 layout including the Concourse T expansion, animated Atlanta SkyTrain and Metro Train, detailed interior modelling, custom GSE, animated jetways, correct gate assignments for a realistic AI traffic experience, and accurate ground elevation including Atlanta’s notably sloped runways.
It’s also worth noting that Imaginesim released a fully rebuilt version of KATL for MSFS 2024 in July 2025 as a free upgrade for existing owners, so there is already an option on the market. Orbx’s version is positioning itself at the higher end of the detail spectrum, particularly around the accuracy and density of ground-level assets, and the screenshots suggest that ambition is reflected in the finished product.
Mid-April is the new target. We’ll update when a firm date and pricing are confirmed.
