FlightSim Studio’s 2026 roadmap: E-Jets autopilot rewrite, 727 overhaul, P2012 v2 in beta, and a mystery reveal

FlightSim Studio isn’t the kind of developer that puts out weekly teasers. So when they do publish a status update, it tends to be worth reading. Their H1 2026 report, posted this week, covers four active projects and drops a hint about something new entirely. Here’s what they’ve shared.

The E-Jets autopilot is being rebuilt from scratch

The E-Jets have been in development for what feels like a long time, and the autopilot has been a persistent pain point. FSS says they’ve made a deliberate decision not to keep patching around its limitations. Instead, they’re rewriting the autopilot logic from scratch, completely independent of the default MSFS autopilot system. That’s a big commitment, but the reasoning seems to make sense: more control over aircraft behaviour, and a reusable foundation for future FSS projects.

FSS says that once this work is finished and properly tested, the E-Jets v1.0 milestone will be considered complete. After that, the focus shifts to a native MSFS 2024 version. There’s no timeline given.

The 727 is getting a real MSFS 2024 overhaul

When FSS launched the Boeing 727-200 Freighter in August 2024, it was a bit of an unusual project for a developer known for more modern aircraft. The passenger variant followed in April 2025, rounding out the classic trijet lineup. Now, FSS says both are heading toward a proper MSFS 2024 native version.

The planned update includes new textures, a revised 3D model, and a range of technical improvements. FSS is also adding the ADV variant with auxiliary tanks, which the studio says will serve as the new base for the Super 27. If you read our September 2025 coverage of the Q3 Status Quo report, you’ll know the 727 family has been growing steadily, and this MSFS 2024 push looks like the next logical chapter for it. No release window is on the table yet.

The P2012 Traveller v2 is the closest to the finish line

Of everything in this update, the Tecnam P2012 Traveller v2 is the project nearest to release. FSS says it’s already in beta.

The scope expanded during development, partly because FSS decided to fold in a VIP variant that was announced at AERO Friedrichshafen. The update is described as native MSFS 2024 throughout: it includes the native EFB, walkaround mode, partial career mode compatibility, 3D passengers, and different cargo types. There’s also a significant sound overhaul compared to the current version.

In terms of variants, FSS is planning passenger, cargo, VIP, special mission, and skydiver versions, all native to MSFS 2024. It’s a considerably wider variant lineup than anything the P2012 has seen before.

The P2006T v2, which has its own dedicated following, has been part of the FSS portfolio since 2023 and is also on the roadmap, but FSS is treating the P2012 as the test platform first. Once the foundation is proven there, those learnings will feed into the P2006T work.

Something new is coming at FSExpo

FSS mentions that recent team growth and new partnerships have enabled them to start work on a new, as-yet-unnamed project. They describe it as “a bit unusual” but fitting with their identity as a studio, and say there’s a “bigger story” behind it. The reveal is scheduled for Saturday, 13 June at 10:30 CDT / 15:30 UTC via the FSElite livestream, or in person at FSExpo.

That’s not a lot to go on, but it’s enough to have a few guesses forming.

The bigger picture

Reading between the lines, this update is as much about internal maturity as it is about specific aircraft. FSS talks about reducing long-term dependencies, building reusable systems (the autopilot rewrite being the clearest example), and preparing their workflow for where MSFS is going. The waiting has been real, especially for E-Jets owners. But the framing here is less “we’re nearly done” and more “we’re building things the right way so they last.”
