Back in 2019, which doesn’t sound that long ago until you actually count it out, iniBuilds announced the A380 as their most ambitious project to date. Given what they’ve built since then, including the A340, A350, and most recently the L-1011 TriStar, that original claim will be tough to live up to. The project had a complicated road, originally scoped for X-Plane, then shelved before being revived as an MSFS project. In March, we covered their formal re-announcement of the A380 as part of their latest development update. Now, it seems the waiting is almost over!
Today, iniBuilds dropped a short but pointed message on their Discord: “In 2019, we announced our first, most ambitious project ever. This month, we finally pull back the curtain. Four engines. Two decks. A global icon.“
Alongside the text, three new work-in-progress screenshots have been shared, and they give a clearer sense of where the model sits right now. The detail visible in these images is striking!

One shot looks up at the main landing gear from below, showing the gear strut, hydraulic lines, and a clearly legible iniBuilds A380-800 data plate. Another captures the exterior fuselage panel seams and windows in Emirates livery, with bilingual door warning placards and all. The third is a striking low-angle shot of the forward fuselage in British Airways livery. Three beautiful shots of this legendary modern airliner.
These are still watermarked “Work in Progress,” but the messaging here is deliberate. “This month” is not vague language. iniBuilds appears to be setting up a full reveal, though how quickly a reveal translates to availability is to be seen. But recent projects have shown that once iniBuilds kick’s off their marketing campaign, it doesn’t take long for the aircraft to come out.

FlyByWire’s freeware A380 has been available for PC users for some time, and it’s a capable aircraft. But it’s not on Xbox, it’s not available on the Marketplace, and it’s still very much a work in progress. iniBuilds has built their reputation in large part on exactly those distribution channels, making their aircraft accessible to the widest possible audience including console players.
We’ll keep a close eye on the iniBuilds channels this month. FlightSimExpo 2026 is scheduled for later this month, which would be a natural moment for a full reveal. Definitely a moment to look forward to!
