Exciting news from Orbx as the Australian team has just teased their latest aircraft for Microsoft Flight Simulator: the Grumman TBF Avenger. The iconic WWII torpedo bomber is set to make its way into the sim, and it’s already looking very interesting in the first teaser shared by Orbx!
The TBF Avenger was a critical asset during World War II, serving the U.S. Navy and Marine Corps in various roles, including anti-submarine warfare and torpedo missions.
The announcement came via a short teaser video on social media, where Orbx prompted simmers to “Get ready to take flight in a WWII Warbird!” The video showcased several features, including dynamic wing folding, functional bomb bay doors, and authentic engine and wind sounds recorded from a real Avenger. It’s a brief but intriguing look that hints at the attention to detail and fidelity we can expect from this recreation of a legendary aircraft.
This isn’t Orbx’s first collaboration with Paul Bennet. Their previous joint effort, the Wolf Pitts Pro, brought aerobatic flying to the simulator with precision and performance. Shifting focus to a WWII bomber is an interesting move that demonstrates the developer’s versatility and efforts to diversify its aircraft lineup.
Details about the TBF Avenger remain scarce for now—there’s no release date, pricing, or comprehensive feature list yet. However, Orbx suggests that more updates and previews will follow soon. Until then, it’s a great time to polish up those carrier landing skills!
