Parallel 42 releases SimFX for Microsoft Flight Simulator

Parallel 42 has released SimFX, a comprehensive visual effects utility for Microsoft Flight Simulator. This innovative add-on extends the capabilities of MSFS by significantly enhancing the visual realism and immersive quality of the platform with the introduction of a series of environmental visual effects.

SimFX continues Parallel 42’s tradition of creating visual effects as seen in previous platforms like FSX and Prepar3D. This utility covers a wide range of scenarios, promising that every particle on the screen is accurately governed by environmental variables and formulas. Dynamic effects manifest only under the right conditions, aiming to create those magical moments that make each flight a little bit more special.

The add-on includes a variety of effects that enhance both the environment and the aircraft within the simulator. These include extended contrails that add depth and realism to the skies, dynamic engine heat blurs that vary with the aircraft’s throttle settings, and intricate water and dirt effects such as wing wash and rotor wash, which visually represent the impact of aircraft on their immediate surroundings.

Additionally, SimFX introduces celestial phenomena, including real-time animated auroras visible near both poles, and seasonally accurate shooting stars, enhancing the night-time flying experience. These features are designed to be not only visually impressive but also highly realistic, avoiding repetitive patterns to maintain a natural look.

While some features of SimFX are designed to fully leverage the upcoming Sim Update 15, Parallel 42 has made the strategic decision to release the utility in its current state, allowing users to immediately benefit from most of its capabilities. This includes enhancements for default, community, and marketplace aircraft, with full compatibility across these different platforms. There are just a couple of INOP features at this point, which will be activated once SU15 finally becomes available and is installed by the user.

SimFX also emphasizes customization, giving users the ability to adjust the effects to their liking and performance needs through an in-game configuration panel. This allows for a tailored experience, ensuring that the visual enhancements can be enjoyed on a wide range of system specifications without compromising performance.

All in all, this looks like an awesome new addition to Parallel 42’s already impressive toolkit for Microsoft Flight Simulator. SimFX is available now for €29,95!
