Flight Sim Coach LLC has unveiled an educational initiative that is especially catered to virtual pilots: a free, 10-week online ground school course specifically designed for flight simulation enthusiasts. This program aims to provide simmers with foundational aviation knowledge, bridging the gap between casual simulation and more serious flight training.
The course curriculum covers essential private pilot-level topics, offering a learning experience that combines theoretical knowledge with practical application in the virtual cockpit. Weekly live-streamed classes, each lasting one hour, feature a mix of whiteboard instruction, slideshow presentations, and simulator demonstrations using both X-Plane and Microsoft Flight Simulator.
The program aims to meet the needs of flight simulation enthusiasts who are looking to build a better foundation of pilot knowledge, as well as student pilots and certified pilots looking for a refresher.
A key feature of the program is its roster of experienced instructors. The course will be led by certified flight instructors and retired airline pilots, bringing decades of real-world aviation expertise to the virtual classroom. Among the instructors is Emerson Allen, a retired airline captain with over 28,000 flight hours of experience.
