The PlayStation 5 release of Microsoft Flight Simulator 2024 is almost here, and the team has just published a detailed FAQ and a new world map that confirms exactly when the sim unlocks in each region. It’s the most complete rundown so far of how the PS5 launch will work, covering timing, editions, pricing, Marketplace behavior, peripherals, and more.
The simulator will become available at 8 AM local time in most regions, which means players in places like New Zealand will get access long before those in Europe or the Americas. The only exceptions are the US West Coast and Hawaii, which unlock slightly earlier in local time.
Early Access and launch timing
Players who pre-order the Deluxe, Premium Deluxe, or Aviator Editions will be able to jump in on December 3. Everyone else can start on December 8. Each major city listed in the FAQ shows an 8 AM unlock in its respective time zone, including:
- Auckland
- Sydney
- Tokyo
- Seoul
- Mumbai
- Dubai
- Cape Town
- Paris
- Berlin
- London
- São Paulo
- New York
- Mexico City
Seattle unlocks at 5 AM PST and Honolulu at 4 AM HST.
The updated map from the team lays out the entire schedule visually.

Editions and pricing
The PS5 Store will offer the same four editions already available on Xbox and PC:
- Standard Edition: 70 aircraft and 150 bespoke airports
- Deluxe Edition: 80 aircraft and 155 bespoke airports
- Premium Deluxe Edition: 95 aircraft and 160 bespoke airports
- Aviator Edition: 125 aircraft, 160 bespoke airports, plus 30 aircraft from the 2020 payware catalog
You can check out all the complete aircraft line-up here.
All pre-orders include the Northrop T-38A Talon, which will be available at launch.
Prices remain unchanged across platforms:
- Standard: USD $69.99
- Deluxe: USD $99.99
- Premium Deluxe: USD $129.99
- Aviator: USD $199.99
A physical edition of the Standard package is planned, but the disc only works with a digital installation.

How the PS5 version behaves
The FAQ also reiterates information that we already knew, such as that the PS5 release operates independently from the Xbox and PC versions, Marketplace purchases do not transfer, and there is no cross-play between platforms.
The in-sim Marketplace will be present at launch with Microsoft-produced aircraft, recent World and City Updates, and SimVerse Coin packs. Third-party expansions are not part of the day-one lineup.
Peripherals and VR
The simulator will support both the DualSense and DualSense Edge controllers. More information about specific features, such as adaptive trigger behavior, will come later. The Thrustmaster T.Flight Hotas 4 is officially supported at launch.
As for PS VR2 support, it is currently planned for a 2026 update, and the sim will also work through PlayStation Portal remote play.
With the full schedule and an updated FAQ now available, PS5 players have a clear picture of what to expect as Microsoft Flight Simulator 2024 arrives on a new platform. As launch day approaches, the team is expected to share more details about controller features and peripheral support, along with additional guidance for new PlayStation simmers. Stay tuned!
