The countdown is on. iniBuilds has just dropped the official trailer for its long-awaited Lockheed L-1011-500 TriStar Airliner for Microsoft Flight Simulator 2024, and if you’ve been following this project since its was first teased back in 2024, it’s a satisfying moment!
The trailer arrives on the back of a busy few weeks for the project. Earlier this month, iniBuilds released a detailed 50-minute “Welcome to the TriStar” preview video covering modelling, systems, and flight model, followed by a final development update confirming a release later in March. The official trailer today feels like the last piece before launch.
As usual, iniBuilds notes that footage in the trailer is not indicative of the final version of the product, and that the aircraft will initially be available exclusively through the in-sim marketplace for MSFS 2024. Liveries are expected to be free via the iniManager on PC, or available for a small fee through the marketplace for Xbox users. No pricing has been announced yet.
For those who haven’t been following along, the TriStar is shaping up to be one of the more ambitious classic airliner releases in recent memory. Key highlights include a Virtual Flight Engineer with voice callouts and authentic switch sounds, a sound suite recorded directly from an operational L-1011 at the TriStar Experience in Kansas City, and a fully modelled three-crew cockpit.
Navigation flexibility is also a focus, with users able to choose between classic INS operation or a more modern GPS-assisted workflow via a custom “Paper Flight Bag” interface.
Definitely one to watch. Stay tuned!
