SoFly first put Cabin Announcement Pro on stage back at FlightSimExpo 2024, then returned a year later to confirm it had slipped to a Q1 2026 target after the team took the project back to the drawing board. At FlightSimExpo 2026, SoFly used part of their FSExpoFriday slot to address where things now stand, alongside news of a significant free update coming to their AeroTone audio suite. Calum Martin, who presented for SoFly, spoke honestly about the history, acknowledging on stage that the product was announced “rather prematurely” a couple of years ago.
So here is the headline for anyone who has been tracking it: Cabin Announcement Pro is now committed to a 2026 release, and SoFly says that is a promise. There is no firm date yet, but the studio reaffirmed that general window for both PC and console users, and it brought a new development trailer along to show how far the tool has come.
For those new to it, Cabin Announcement Pro is built to handle the passenger announcement side of a flight, the cabin crew and pilot PAs that stock aircraft simply do not have. SoFly walked through two ways of using it. There is a manual mode, where you trigger announcements yourself whenever you like, and an automatic mode, which is where the more interesting work has gone.
In automatic mode, the tool will read your SimBrief flight plan and play the right announcements at the right points throughout the flight. SoFly says it uses dynamic data to tailor those announcements to the situation, factoring in things like the time of day, the weather, and the state of the fasten seatbelt sign. The studio describes it as global-ready, detecting your airline from the flight plan and assigning an appropriate accent, with multiple variations for both cabin crew and pilots so flights do not feel repetitive. Ad hoc announcements are part of the package too, covering celebrations such as a passenger birthday, as well as abnormal situations like a go-around.
Controlling all of this is a custom in-sim panel. From there, SoFly says users will be able to play and stop announcements on demand, toggle boarding music on or off, and adjust associated volumes. The studio also reconfirmed a point it has held to since the beginning: Cabin Announcement Pro will be a one-time purchase with no subscription, which Calum says is a decision to keep it accessible to as many people as possible. It will support both Microsoft Flight Simulator 2020 and 2024 on PC and console.
Alongside that, SoFly revealed a major update in development for AeroTone, the all-in-one sound enhancement suite the studio released back in December 2025. The standout addition is 3D spatial awareness across both cabin and cockpit audio, which SoFly describes as the most requested feature from the community since launch. The idea is that sounds will behave according to where you are positioned in the aircraft, rather than playing flat regardless of your location.
The update brings a few other additions as well. New aircraft sound effects include dynamic rain, which SoFly says will vary depending on the strength of the weather and precipitation. There is also new background banter from ground crew and cabin crew, layered in for added atmosphere. On the control side, the in-sim panel is getting expanded options, letting users adjust individual sound effect volumes and even tweak the frequency of elements like pilot chatter and sneezes.
SoFly confirmed the entire AeroTone update will be free for existing customers, including the usual bug fixes and quality of life improvements, with features rolling out to each respective edition where customers own a smaller version of the product. The studio is targeting a summer 2026 release.
